Let me introduce OurSelves

 

 

Guess it's about time I put a blog up.  I have been so busy with getting the Associate Artisans business online that I've nearly forgotten a few resources I have available to me.  Then as I come and check out other blogs here that "light bulb" does a little flash in my brain and I have one of those "V8" moments.

So let me begin by introducing ourselves to you here at APSense!  My name is Lady J aka Jacki aka LJ to some.  I have been in the leather business the best part of fifteen years now.  In 2002 I joined with an high school girl friend to create a business selling the stuff that we love to make.

As most of you all know out here, what you love to do is not always what you can make a living at.  yet I am personally devoted to just that.  I am at the moment disabled with a back condition that will never allow me to enter back into any real life work force either. 

hense the "bright" idea to combine the forces of all the artisans into the online promotion.  Duffys Closet is a collaborate of artisans who are determined to keep hand made products available to future generations.  The first web site called DuffysCloset.com was built long before yet not published until 2004 after we spent our time doing flea market store and then a year on the craft fair circuit.   Let me tell you that is the hardest business in the world.  Those who still do that deserve all the support you can give them at fairs.

In this day and age of people rushing to the super stores at the last moment where they can find anything they need, has taken away from waiting till the next fair or ordering online and waiting for your present to come in the mail.  Even with the quick pay on Pay Pal you still have to allow shipping and I know the feeling of the night before the party  when you realize you forgot to buy a gift.

Hopefully we can turn a tide some and have people start to look ahead and plan more.  Even with online shopping for everyday things we use.  The one program We are an affiliate for has what they call MaxMalls (walmart-officedepot-and in many other countries now too) where you get credit back on your own orders.  plus other company incentives which was the next "light bulb" moment for Duffys Closet.  Then I created a sister site with a free Microsoft office site and called it to represent everyone

  If we could not earn a living yet from selling our products we made, while we are networking the store online, how about we join affiliates and have a small residual income for everyone coming in.  And all of you here know the information nightmare we have gone through this last month.  It will continue for a bit longer as we settle on certain products now and in the future yet I still welcome others here to stop by and drop their links off for me to check into.
