Peaceful brought you the Capybara, allow me to introduce Josephoartigasia monesi
LONDON - Eeek! Imagine a rodent that weighed a ton and was as big as a bull.
"Uruguayan scientists say they have uncovered fossil evidence of the biggest species of rodent ever found, one that scurried across wooded areas of South America about 4 million years ago, when the continent was not connected to North America."
Talk about a rat problem, this baby makes the Capybara look like a Gerbil. Ladies I don't think there is a chair high enough to save you from this one. Superrat has arrived. There is some speculation that this animal may have lived during the same period as the Saber-tooth Tiger.
I can just see one of these things getting into the Flintstone residence. Wilma would have had to climb on the roof to get away from it. No wonder they had that huge Saber tooth kitty. It would take something that big to get this rat out of the house!

AHA!!! that's why the dinosaurs are extinct. They laughed themselves silly trying to pronounce those scientific names.

By the time one learns to pronounce it's name, the poor thing will probably laugh itself into ill health! LOL! :)

At least he has a name to match the size. That is a mouthful.
I'm not sure we need to find a rat bigger than this!!!!!

Now that's big, Cheryl! LOL! :)
There's speculation of an even bigger species of rat that lived near swamps and lakes here in North America... But they probably all got wiped out during a huge flooding... This might have knocked off the big cats, too...
