Ads vs Blogs

I'm by no means an expert in the area of blogging nor am I the most experienced APSenser around so maybe it's just me but I see so many ads placed as blogs.  A couple of promotional sentences and a link just screams ad to me.  Am I wrong in thinking so?

To me a blog should be reading material.  There should be some meat to it, points should be made or addressed and I should pick up useful information.  "Click here" is not useful information.  Why should I bother when it's just another ad?  However if I'm reading something well written that gives me reasons for the click, you just might get it and I'll be interested enough to stay a while.

Let's be honest, all of us think we have a great product and I'm sure that you like me would like to share it with everyone.  But why should anyone think I have a great product if I'm not giving them some background on what it can do for them.  Worse yet why should they waste their time clicking a link to a product that I can't be bothered taking the time to talk about.  I'm sure if you look at my blogs many of them are designed to let you know information critical to my products and the need for them even if I don't come out and say it.  If you'll notice I have a link in my signature line that goes to my website.  If I am saying something in my blog that makes sense, you'll click on the link because you want to.

So if you're just putting in a link with a couple of promotional sentences, how many clicks are from people who are interested and how many are just because?
