While some people clearly need to overhaul their diet in order to reduce fat, more people need simply to make samll changes like these:

* Allow extra time for shopping, planning meals and trying new recipes. Soon you’ll be able to shop for lower fat foods and prepare lower fat meals quickly as you shop and prepare foods now.
* Pay close attention to food preparation; that’s where a lot of fats gets added. The recipes here will show you how to prepare delicous recipes using lower fat ingredients and cooking methods.
* When packaged food is labeled with nutrition information, use the information on fat per serving to compare products and make lower fat food choices.
* Limit or reduce portions of foods that contain a lot of saturated and trans fat. To do this, buy the leanest cuts of meat. Eat smaller portions of meat. Choose lower fat milk productss most of the time. Avoid foods containing partially hydorgenated oil or fried in shortening, for example, cookies, crackers, pastries, fast foods and snack foods.
* Aim to eat lower fat foods most of the time but don’t fret about ocasional higher fat foods or meals.Enjoy the brief break from routine but get back on track as soon as possible.
