It's Not Just A Vacation...It's a Paycation
Don leaves his job for the day, anxious to get online to plan his vacation.
Either his time has accumulated, or he was given a certain amount of days a year. Don’s excited because he managed not to use any of his annual leave so that he can feel rested after taking that 2-week vacation. Or maybe Don has his own business and needs a break.
Don goes online plan the trip. He needs a rental car, and hotel. He sees deals through Expedia all over the place, and then he compares shop through Orbitz. After finding a decent deal the trip is booked. As a matter of fact, Don spends almost $3000 and didn’t even consider the spending budget yet.
I am smiling from ear to ear. I have my own business and decide to take a trip. I too, go online but there is a difference. I book my flight on my personal travel website. I also need hotel and car. And what the heck, while I’m there, I’ll buy sport event tickets to a football game, cause I like football, and purchase it all on my site. My hubby can't go so I order flowers for him…on my site. I’m all set. I then go to my back office and pleased to see the commission I just made on my own trip.
I fly out of town, give away some business cards, hold a couple of travel parties, place a few flyers around, and help my team of travel reps. When I return, I decide to write it off as a business expense. I’m still smiling, loving what I do, because it’s fun. Because it’s simple, because everyone loves to travel, because I am one of the many YTB reps capitalizing on the market shift of buying travel online, and much more, at competitive prices.
