100 Proof Alcohol and 190 Alcohol Proof: Wide Range of Applications

by Andrew Winslow Best Alcohol for Extraction

Alcohol proof, sometimes known simply as "proof" in reference to a beverage, is a measurement of the quantity of ethanol (alcohol) in an alcoholic beverage. The phrase, which was initially used in England, roughly equated to 1.8 times the amount of alcohol by volume (ABV). In the UK, ABV is presently used in place of proof. In the US, alcohol proof is referred to as being two twice the ABV percentage. In terms of ABV, each nation has its own definition of proof.

You may use the alcohol proof to determine how much ethanol (also known as ethyl alcohol) is present in alcoholic beverages. With higher alcohol proof, the drink gets stronger. In the United States, where alcohol proof is defined as having twice as much alcohol by volume (ABV), this technique of determining alcohol content is commonly used. For instance, if a whisky has 50% alcohol by volume, it is 100 proof alcohol and if an alcohol product is of 45%, it is 190 Alcohol Proof.

100 Proof Alcohol

50% of alcohol is present in 100 proof alcohol. Use Extractohol 100 proof alcohol for tinctures. The 50% alcohol content of this vodka makes it the ideal choice for extracting the necessary compounds from plant materials. Tinctures made using Extractohol 100 proof alcohol usually have a high potency and a rapid onset of effect.
