Hi Pattyde,

I am curious, Are private tobacco growers subject to the state tobacco regulations as commercial growers are? In other-words can they tax your crop? I live in the city of Philadelphia PA, and was considering buying a plot of land on my block and turning it into a productive garden area. The area looks to be about 1500 sq. ft and tobacco would be good for me to grow as I am a smoker and am subject to state regulations. I am not sure on the law's for this.

My second question for you is why tobacco? Sorry, just had to ask because this is not a topic that comes up every day.

1.
Where I live here in Nevada I don't believe they can tax my crop as long as it is not sold. GREAT Question. I will have to research myself.

2. :)
Why? My "Bad Habit" (Funny, Pat Carr's Song) gave me something to blog about once my son created this monster idea to save money. It's a lot of work and you have to have a lot of water to keep them happy.
A work in progress with the blog fulling the info. which will be required after the season by the Government.
Yes exactly a rare subject indeed also a negative one....But still of interest to other grower's to learn new tricks and tips.
Lot's of million and billionaires raise tobacco. Lots of hard work.

Thank you so much for the answers Pattyde, "Yes exactly a rare subject indeed also a negative one...." Only for those that find it wrong and want to be controlling. I for one think like this; To Each His Own!!!! I really do love this idea and you won't have any of the chemicals that the big tobacco companies like to put in it..

Yes, like helmets can save you but depending on the accident they could kill you! ... Amen, "To Each His Own"

I am now wondering if the carcinogens could be pesticide related???

If not grown organically then how are they ridding the plants of the

tomato worms(don't know their real name but have always called them that. The green ones with white stripe and looks like stinger on their backsides)????? I also just heard there may be a Government

Program for loans to create Organic Tobacco Farms.

I've never seen in 40 yrs. one pack saying organically grown!
