I saw the original, I was in my 20s. I know, I'm not a young pup anymore. :)
IIRC, forgive me for some forgotten details, I saw it once more than 25 years ago.

The bad "guy" in TRON was the MCP, the Master Control Program. It was taking control of the "computer world" and was about to expand into ours. One of the heroes sees that coming, tries to stop MCP by programming something to counteract MCP's efforts. By some "techno" trick, MCP brings that hero into the its virtual world. The hero's friend wonders where his friend is, as he is about to find out, it's his turn to absorbed into MCP's world, where he searches for his friend while encountering various "obstacles" that are sort of video games, but he finds himself one of the "characters" instead of being the whiz kid with the joystick.
It's a Disney movie, I'll let you figure out who wins. :) I don't remember at all how it happens.
