November 4, 2010By Lonnie NiverWhat is the term "Black Hat"? When the term "Black hat" is used we picture a villain character wearing a black hat dressed in all black opposed to the good guy look who is seen wearing all white in movies. But the villain in this case is not an actor in a movie. It is an unethical search engine optimization technique used to help websites gain higher rankings on search engines.

Yes there are sites that use "Black Hat SEO" for their own benefit. Believe or not at one time or another "Black Hat SEO" was allowed to help search engine rankings. But then the usage of this technique was and like anything else rules and regulations where put into place to prevent websites from using "Black Hat SEO" techniques to gain top search engine rankings.

There are 3 Black Hat spamming techniques you should avoid at all cost,Keyword Stuffing is a technique that is seen a lot. It is listing nothing more than keywords on a web-page. (This includes back linking.)Invisible text this type of technique is Keyword Stuffing with a twist. Placing a list of keywords with white text to get the attention of search engine spiders.Doorway Pages this technique sole purpose is to trick the search engine spiders to giving a website top search engine rankings. They are a simple HTML page using a few keywords and phrases. A user would never know when they hit one because they are redirected to the real site.
Now that you know what Black Hat SEO is  it really worth getting banned from search engines. Learn SEO rules and regulations to avoid these unethical spamming techniques. The best guide for SEO techniques can be found at w3seo.com they can explain it more in detail.

Yes it is old school! I think the people that are using it are not educated to know that they are using this technique. Just something to help others be aware so they are not banned.

How the foundation was started, from the beginning we always remind our self's of what we have forgotten and at times old tricks work very well..

Knowledge is power on the internet and at times we need to look back on what use to work and how to improve our system...so old tricks are at times priceless.....

Getting banned can come right out of left field. Google does not even give a specific reason! I have a couple team mates that have had their blogs shut down, no one knows why, and they don't really tell why.

Knowing the wrong things to do is important, especially when training new people! Thanks for sharing your article, Lonnie!

While I was surfing the net I came a cross a term that we should all get familiarly with while we are using back links. The term is called linkspam and could have been used in my posting above. Linkspam is defined as links between pages that are present for reasons other than merit.

Yes there is a test. Here is another term, Comment Spam. This is more for blogs, but now that more social network sites are allowing people to post comments on peoples profiles, it is applicable there to.

Katrina, just kidding about the test. But speaking of Google, especially if you use Adsense they will ban you in a heart beat. One reason, and you are right they will not tell you why, but if people click on your ads to many times you could be banned from Adsense. It happened to me. I was going crazy trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I finally read about it on the apsense blog. We have to take charge of the things we can control and not worry to much about the things we can not.

yes, I have been kicked out of adsense too. Twice! and the second time, I thought I was doing everything to the tee. But they decided no. First time was my own fault for not reading the terms, second time,I have no clue!! Just poof and gone...

Wow! I have yet to be kicked off Adsense. But Like everyone I tried a few things and was warned. The warning freaked me out because I didn't know what I was doing wrong. I was tweeting my posts that is when I received the warning. I think it was because I was getting too many people at one time looking at my post. The only place I have gotten kick off of is Wordpress. They are not very forgiving when it comes to spamming and that includes back links.

I give you 10 stars for sharing these tips. I wasn't aware of it. Thank you so much, Lonnie.

Rather than getting banned, follow the rules to get you to the top.
