Back Link Club

Any Old Back Link is Not Good Enough

As much as I'm in full support of the group's central theme of the importance of backlinks (inbound links) to your website, I need to point out that back links from sites unrelated to the subject of your site are of no value to you in terms of SEO, if not counter-productive.

Also, back links from low authority sites are so incomparably less meaningful than inbound links from high authority sites, that it makes much more sense to focus on getting back links from sites that are regarded as high authority sites in the eyes of the search engines. For example, the value of a back link from a site with a Google PageRank of 4 is infinitely more powerful than a backlink from a site with a 0 Google PR.

Thank you for your comments. This was addressed in the opening/introduction to the club. The club will be organized into sub-groups and the participants in each small group will be given instructions. Regarding sites with low authority, we have a solution for that as well. After all, sites grow to have authority they do not remain low ranking unless the owner just does not know or care what she/he is doing.

Some great points for sure but how does low rank or no rank get to rise to a higher rank, they have to start somewhere! It will be interesting to see the different types of backlinks. Will be looking forward to your blog JFB.

When I help a team member set up their first blog, I do stress they have very focused content. Keep it to one product or group of related products or services. We work on content first, then get advertising in the right places.
