Déja vu?

In my daunting quest for basic knowledge of the internet marketing processes I have come to a not very surprising conclusion.

Nothing ever goes out of date and nothing new ever gets written.

In fact, the internet marketing world is EXACTLY like the real world of bricks and mortar commerce.

Bur there is one big difference!

In the real world there are people who will help you to set up your business. They are SPECIALISTS in their own particular aspects of setting up a business.

The guy who fits out your shop would never imagine that he is qualified to tell you what to sell.

The guy who does your sign writing would never assume that he knew more than you about stock rotation.

The guy who helps with your approach to the bank would never tell you what prices to charge.

The list goes on . . . . . . . .

BUT

What each one of these people will do is to keep in touch with you if there are ways you can mutually assist each other. You might give him referrals, he might have a little twist on an aspect of your business that could enhance what he has ALREADY done.

It should be the same in the ethereal world of internet marketing.

BUT IT ISN'T, IS IT?

EVERYBODY IS AN EXPERT AT EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR BUSINESS!

How can this be true?

Obviously, it isn't.

I have set up a freebie page on My Local Gazette to put some interest on the site (it only has 50,000 pages) at http://www.costadelsol.mylocalgazette.com/free-downloads - this link will take you to a directory page so you don't even have to visit the main site, simply click on the link to go to the page. Don't look for flash stuff on the site page, I believe in basic!

Some of these downloads are simply humourous, others are about internet marketing topics but they are up to three years old.

At first I thought it would be pointless giving this stuff away because it was out of date but - not a bit of it! Although these are not the latest versions of eBooks and so on, the ONLY thing that separates them from the latest $19 - $497 issue is the number of adjectives used in the sales page, the level of hype and the degree of gullibility anticipated in the potential buyer (us newbies!). In the wonderful world of internet gurus, embroidery is king!

See for yourself - you don't have to download, you can read them or listen to them online - and see if, like me, you can recognise the hyped up versions being touted around today as the latest, greatest, blow-your-socks off deal.

The biggest cause for failure of any business is a know nothing thinking he or she knows it all. The know it all mentality seems to be the basis for every marketing system being pushed by the gurus. Believe me, Bill Gates Donald Trump Warren Buffet etc are not where they are because they knew it all. They is where they are because they surrounded themselves with the people who knew what they did not know and listened to their advice.

That's the problem isn't it? Getting experts to work with you, and give advice.
The ebooks/programs just don't go far enough to give you a flying start.
