It makes me want to commit murder.....

I am not a violent man but there are times when I simply do not understand this internet marketing community.

Why are so-called, bloody roogoos allowed to develop software that is actually designed to create spam in huge quantities? Why are they allowed to sell or give away this software even though the number one complaint of all people with an in ternet connection is SPAM?

Why are there people out there stupid, selfish and gormless enough to think that these software programmes will actually do them some good? What possible excuse can a marketer have for producing automated spam and distributing that spam all over the internet like some demented crap artist with diarrohoea?

If I can be penalised for sending spam, shouldn't the person who encourages me to send it also be penalised? In any other industry, if your product created harm or distress to the population at large you would be sued to hell and gone.

Internet marketers, it seems, can not only break the rules with impunity, they can also actively encourage others to break the rules as well - all without a single sanction.

What brought on this little rant?

I have just had to delete adverts for viagra, on line casinos, on line poker, sex aids, dating sites and various other inappropriate responses to a recent post in my blog;-

Readers of Diario Sur and Sur in English will, no doubt, have been disturbed by a recent report of the discovery of the remains of between 15 and 20 dogs at the bottom of a chasm in the Sierra de Almijara.

The remains were discovered by a group of pot-holers from the Underground Explorations Group of the Málaga Excursionists Society. Finding the dogs was bad enough but what has upset them more is the fact that some of these dogs (some still wearing collars and leads) appeared to have been thrown into the chasm alive.

Seprona have been alerted and the group will attempt to recover articles that could lead to the prosecution of the dogs’ owners.

BUT - who is really to blame?

We Brits have never understood the attitude of many Spaniards to animals. We have read and, sometimes, seen many examples of their apparent cruelty and lack of concern towards them.

I asked a man, not too different to myself, but Spanish, why there was this ‘cruel’ streak in the make up of many Spaniards.

His answer shook me to the core.

“Because” he said “animals do not have souls and do not suffer like we do.”

Apparently it is the standard teaching of the catholic church that animals do not have souls and that they were placed upon this Earth for man to do with as he saw fit. I had heard this explanation before but never had it put to me in the same tone as one might say “It is warm today.”

The man had absolutely no doubt at all that animals do not suffer. He really did not understand why I felt so sad about the news story, nor could he see that throwing dogs down a chasm was, in any way, reprehensible.

So, was this man heartless and lacking some basic humanity or had the catholic church destroyed his heart and his humanity?

It is very pleasing to see that many Spaniards now do have pets and are pleased to be seen walking with them - and they do take excellent care of them. It is also good to know that many are as appalled as I was by this story.

Maybe the church is losing the absolute mind control it once had over its congregations.

Maybe Spaniards are no longer so ready to believe that an animal which is the embodiment of selfless affection and devotion is no more than a piece of property to be discarded at will.

Maybe we will, one day, see no more stories of attrocities against our dumb animal friends.

p.s. I do realise that Brits are also cruel to animals, especially if they live in Spain, but they have no excuse. They are the scum of the Earth.

I think you will agree that the posts were just a little off topic.

I know the feeling about spam and it is annoying to the extreme. I would like nothing better than to have a program on my computer that would block all of those spammers and send a virus to those who create it.
