Yes the reported number of Identity theft cases dropped this year, but you do need to worry.  According to Attrition.org the number of  reported breaches has more than tripled this year.   Maybe this is the result of working in a police dept for 12 years but I have the ability to "think like a criminal" at times.  And I'm getting the idea that information is in the wrong hands right now.

But criminals have also send the trend of companies paying for credit monitoring for a year or two after a breach.  To release the information they have know when it's being watched doesn't make sense but a couple of years down the line people won't even connect the theft of their identity the the TJX/TJ MAXX breach.  That is why we need to worry and keep our guard up.

If you'd like to keep up with new information on breaches you can click in the Upcoming News button for this group since it has the RSS feed from Attrition.org
