Marketing Crafts on Etsy.com

Hello fellow crafters!

I just opened a storefront on Etsy.com.  I don't know how many here are familiar with this website, but it is new to me.  It is a website devoted to selling hand crafted items only.    I opened my storefront  a week ago, and have had two orders already, without even doing any real promoting yet!  I am really encouraged.

I have been sellling my crocheted hats on eBay, and have sold quite a few, but the eBay fees are really getting ridiculous. Etsy gives you a FREE storefront, and listings cost .20 for four months. Final value fees on Etsy are only 3.5%, compared to 10% with an eBay storefront!  I decided to close down my eBay storefront and go with Etsy to see how it works out.  I think I will do just as well on Etsy without fees eating up all my profits!

So check out Etsy; I think you'll like it.  The website is easy to use, and customers can check out through your paypal account if you have one, or you can accept checks or money orders.  You do need a vaild credit or debit card (with a major credit card logo) to open an account.  If you'd like to see my storefront, go to http://jillbeth.etsy.com/

Hi Jillbeth,

Love your etsy shop. I have to get mine sorted out after christmas (said that last year too! LOL)

Hope it is a roaring success and will be interested to see how it compares with eBay.

I dont have a problem with eBay prices, insofar as I pay 15% comission to a rep, but the most important thing is whether or not things sell.

Please come back and let us know
