To Top or Not to Top...

Some posts in a private group are designed for the group membership only so the question of whether to top a "Newsletter to group" post comes up.

It doesn't need to be topped to "bring it up the list" but should it be topped to give the Author the credit they deserve ?

I ask because i have seen several private groups with good topics and a dozen replies with only a couple of Tops.

I personally will top anything that is relevant, well written or that I believe people should read. Private or public.

Yeah, thats my view as well.

I guess if a member doesn't want something topped they should request that in the first paragraph. But i can't see why anyone wouldn't want a good article topped...

I usually top based on whether it is:
Well written
Needs to be said
Relevant to the group venue
I just plain like it

Any one or more of the above is reason to top in my view.
