Discussing An Individual Business Or Program

Discussing an individual business or program: I have been giving this some thought. I would like members of this group to be able to talk about programs or a business they may have questions about. Yet...I don't want it be be abused with referral links and such. So I am thinking that this could be done with a few guidelines.

Such as:

1) No Referral Links In The Initial Discussion Post

2) No Referral Links In The Comments

3) No Doubt Members May Have Different Opinions. So Lets Remember To Debate The Program or Business, Not The Members.

I would like some feedback on this issue. Do you feel this would be a good idea? And do you feel these guidelines are enough to keep this idea a positive one?

This is a great idea Lynn! I think the guidelines are fairly sufficent, my personal opinion is that when we all work together great results are acheived. There are no reasons for anyone to get nasty with each other or argue whoose program is better, we can simply take an objective look at the programs from all the angles. There is no such thing as a perfect program, they all have good points and bad points, what it really is all about is what is right for the person, who decides? The person! Feedback?

Comments and posts would naturally have a Sig Link, which would be all anyone would need. I think it's a great idea Lynn. D

Yeah, i like this idea.

As David said, The Signature link would always be present anyway.

Statements like... "Click my signature link for more information..." would turn the debate into an advertisement, so that type of statement should be avoided... but the signature does give a gentle nudge in the appropriate direction without asking people to click on it...

I think the idea should work well. As already stated, we already have the signature link so that is enough for people to click on if they want more information. However, speaking personally, I am a member of several programmes, and the signature link may not correspond to the topic being discussed. I tend to change it from time to time to give all my ops a chance for some traffic.
But as the postings aren't about referring folks to opportunities, I dont' have a problem with this. As long as readers understand the link may not refer to the opp. being discussed.

Not only do we have the sig link but people can always click on our "mugs" and contact us or whatever if they are really that interested. To me, someone that will go to this trouble is a Red Hot lead!

Hi San,

In your case you would probably want one website with your opportunities listed on that site, then just advertise one link...

From an Optimization point of view you would be better off keeping the same link in your signature.

Wow, I just got back home and I am trying to catch up on everything. After scanning I can see one other guideline to add. There would be no sense in asking about a business or program that you already do. So I will add that you may not ask about a business that is currently in your signature. That would be advertising. But, of course you could reply to a topic even if you promote it in your signature as long as you don't point to it..lol. Lynn

Good idea Lynn,

I guess on the downside that may cause the old... "You post the question and i'll reply to it"... type of thread. But there may be a work around for that too :o)

Eric,
Yes, I thought of that too. But, as long as we have more members who want this group to succeed, than those who want to take advantage. I think we will be fine. As most know, I just about live here..lol...so if anyone sees this behavior they can just message me. And I can guarantee it will be taken care of. Lynn

I think it is an excellent idea, because it would actually be a very good way to interview potential sponsors. For example, I post a question about a business I am interested in, and get several answers, I can see who I personally find most helpful and whom I can relate to most.

You might get some posts which are not in the spirit of what you are doing, Lynn, but if it happens, you can always change the rules to fix it.

Penny,
Yes, that is the idea behind this not only can you learn about a program, but you might actually find someone from here that you could sign up with. Sure if you mention a program you might get messages with referral links in them. But, you might also get some good information here, that goes beyond the copy and paste stuff you can read at the site. Hmmmm...I wonder which person you might sign up with :) Lynn

Garnet,
Thank you. But, we are still in the starting phase. But, we are certainly ahead of the game. With all the wonderful members who have showed their support. I will definitely put your name along with them :) Lynn

Hello Lynn,
we agree with everyone thus far. Garnet has hit the nail on the head.
"Not only do we have the sig link but people can always click on our "mugs" and contact us or whatever if they are really that interested."
It is up to us to have our profiles up to date. As for the negative post, we are beter than that.
Warmest Regards,
Monika & Wayne

Well, we have received alot of positive feedback. It will be interesting to see how it goes. The guidelines are pretty much what was covered in this thread. If I need to post them I will. But, right now I don't see the need. Lynn

Sounds like one heck of a plan Lynn,
I would be happy to join in on the fun!
It's just so hard to keep those links out of a post (even though they aren't Live links)

MKWeb,
It will be nice to have you join in. The links shouldn't be a problem, as there won't be any :)
