Practical Tips For Business Builders

Activity at Apsense

As I was working on my monthly newsletter 'Triggers', I was distracted by the fervent activity at Apsense.
I guess it's the end of the week rush to increase our Spotlight scores. I must say, I have been guilty of it myself!

So how about changing tack?

What if each day we took mini actions toward the end result of a high Spotlight score at the end of the week?

This is a preliminary one that I have outlined for myself and I will likely return here and change this personal little timetable.

Each day take these actions at Apsense:

1. Post a new blog.
2. Post a bulletin on the days that you are able, when yours is due.
3. Post 5 or more replies to other people's subjects or blogs and contribute something useful to each. Remember to 'Top' the ones you like.
4. Post one new subject at each of your own groups and on those at which you're an included administrator.
5. Rate 5 or more ABC's at the Apsence ABC Exchange.
6. Reply to 3 or more messages in your Apsense inbox.
7. Send a friendly and personal hello message to 3 or more of your network members.
8. Participate in the Apsense Guess Who, at the Users and Networking tab.
9. Check and change your ads at each of the places ads can be placed, or put one or more of your ads places up for sale.
10. Go to your ABC and check that all is up to date and see if you can add anything further to improve it.

If I have forgotten anything, please list it below and I'll include it. If anyone is clever enough to work out what your Spotlight score would be at the end of 7-days if you did each of these things daily, then yes please, post that beneath also.

Hope this list helps some of you and may provide a good, consistent plan of action. I will definitely be back to refine this topic as the tips come flowing in at the replies, below. Thanks! :)

Hi Thea,

Great list with some excellent tips.

PErsonally, i don't take much notice of spotlight scores. I tend to have tunnel vision with things like that. I just keep moving forward day after day doing what i do... Sometimes i catch a glimpse of my Profile pic on different parts of the Site, but i prefer to focus on the "next to do" on my list.

Thank you Eric. Yes, I was the same, however I thought it might be worth my while to have a set plan of action so that I am more focused with regard my activity here. Naturally, there be the times I visit the site and take an ad hoc approach because there's always something interesting going on.
It's just important to not neglect my other communities while focusing here and that's where a daily plan comes in handy.

Good idea...

I forgot to thank you for introducing me to the Care2 community. I followed a link in one of your forward steps emails... i haven't had time to do a huge amount there but i have a profile set up and a few blogs... and its on my "to do" list.

Hi Thea,

Thank you for this, I am not new to Apsense however, this is a great wake up call.
It will put me more in focus here to get back into a set schedule of input and participation.

Thanks David. I'm not new either however I noticed how unorganized I was with regard my participation online, generally.
Thought I'd try my hand at sticking to some kind of schedule regarding Apsense and see what difference it will make to me and the group.

Eric, Care2 is wonderful. I too am lax with contributing there on a consistent basis.

By the way if anyone would like to know of other great communities around the internet, here you'll find a few to which I belong:

As I remember the ones I've joined, I add them to that list.

Regardless of Spotlight score...
Your points are well taken.
Everyone who purports to be a Marketer neeeds
to allocate hours per day to ADVERTISE.
Apsense is a powerful venue for that.

Funny.....
People go to Work and perform
the "same tasks" daily,
but for some reason the HBB mentality is more
scattered...

True, Chuck. I do spend deliberately structured and allocated time with regard writing articles, working on my mailing list items, maintaining my blogs etc etc.
It's at the communities that I'd not yet really got myself sorted. I do think that it is reliant on the value that the community brings.
Some are certainly not as good as Apsense at keeping the communications high quality. It is well worth contributing to the friends at Apsense. The majority have a great entrepreneurial mindset and appreciate good content.

Hi Thea,

Great list of suggestions, hope I can start doing all of this on a daily basis too! My plan of action is to spend time everyday posting whatever I can, more importantly helping people whenever I can. The way I see it, APSense is number one, and if we all were to plunge in and just talk to people the most amazing things just may start happening to us. This is my call to all who read this: Get Active In This Community! If you already have, Great! If you haven't yet, What's Stopping You? People are making Bigtime Connections as we speak and all they are doing is just talking to one another like human beings. This is my number one focus, spolight scores will follow on there own.

Fantastic Garnet. Plus with your posting you've reminded me that I need to get back to you with some feedback at your post in your group. :)
I totally agree that this community is brilliant and very good friends can be made here.
Yes, spotlight scores naturally follow good participation levels. Tonight I particularly noticed the level of activity before the spotlight scores were refreshed and I found it humorous.

Hi Thea,

that is an awesome list of what to do on a daily basis here at APSense! I need to break up the tasks and do a little bit each day... I tend to have APSense days
and then work on other 'aspects' of my HBB on other days... but my views etc do peak on those days when I've posted the most etc...

I keep a bookmark/favorites folder just for APSense groups so I can go through them and visit several or more in a fairly short time... the list is too long to visit them all...

what's also good to do is to join a new group... which is invariably a new member's first group and a great way to start your day and their's!

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm having fun trying to keep up with my own list, however at least it keeps me on track and I'm checking off my little checklists whenever I complete one of the activities for the day. :) Keep having fun!

Hi Thea,

You know, this was a great article and I know when I was using more of the tips from it THINGS WERE HAPPENING AROUND HERE! I think you do need to refine it a little though, even if everyone did these things at a slower pace but on a consistent basis it would make a huge difference around here. Plus there is no spotlight score anymore..LOL
