You can find this new feature by going to your account and clicking on the Promoting Materials tab.
It's great for showing your contents from apsense ANYWHERE and anyone who signs up for apsense from this widget, will join as your referral and be added to your network. We will make an official post about it soon. This is just a quick heads up about it. Lynn

G`day,
widget looks okay, I guess the Biz Blogs and Group Discussion links are updated realtime? I`d like to see 468x 60 or something wider than the rectangle anyway, I rarely use skyscrapers to ... lol ... maybe 650, 700, 750 even.

Glad we can customize to our opwn posts, my first view had 5 of the 6 links to programs I wouldn`t promote if they were the last ones online ... hahha .. each to their own I guess ; ) ... and opening in a new window ... woohoo, something Google should do ... (aseeeeef!)

Another Viral APsense creation ... Thumbs Up Here!! ; )

I really love this widget. Does anybody know if they will make other color schemes available in the future?

Would it be possible to incorporate the widget as a "slide in" (pop up) ?

Hi Eric,

To use as a pop up etc simply create a page containing the widget then tell the pop up or slide in etc. to use that page.

you will naturally have to have that page hosted somewhere for it to work.

Hi BJ,

Yeah, i thought APsense might be able to create a code that made it easier for members to add a slide in (by just adding one code).

Option 1 = Static.

Option 2 = Slide in.

I've just had a look at the Widgets and non of the blogs or subjects in the widget preview are mine but someone elses. Has my widget been hijacked or is this just a generic view

Brian,
You just need to change the settings to just your blog and groups, if that is what you want it to show. The default setting shows all blogs and groups. Lynn

Thanks Lynn
On second thoughts it may promote Adsense better if all blogs etc are showing rather than just my own.

I have mine set for all. It really nice to see see fresh titles constantly. I have been a little slow with my blogs lately, so that section wouldn't change to often for me . Also having all the groups showing attracts a larger audience, because of the varied interests. Lynn

This is a general comment.

When selecting which options to use on your widget here are a couple of things to consider.

Point 1
If you select only your material i.e My Blogs, My Groups.
Are you posting quality information at regular intervals to keep fresh content being listed on your widget.

Point 2
If you selsect All Blogs, All Groups. you will get more frequently changing content but
a)
You will be showing, and therefore promoting links to other peoples programs and in some cases copy and paste content rather thanquality content.
b)
You may be displaying a link to a post about a program that you under normal circumstances would not be seen dead promoting?

I have thought about this last point very carefully, because there are posts here about some programs that there is no way I would join or assist anyone in promoting.

It is my personal opinion that although they appear to be working/paying and are not on any scam lists that I am aware of, there is in my honest opinion a very unpleasant smell emanating from them.

Hi Eric,

As far as I am aware there is no one code fits all for popups , slide ins etc.

There are as many different codes as there are types of intrusive and in many cases annoying, advertising. ie pop ups, pop unders, slide ins, fly ins, and you name it the list goes on.

Hi BJ,

One code i can think of in particular is the code Aweber uses for its members to add a subscribe box as a pop up. But i agree most pop ups are irritating. I have a subscribe one set up on one of my sites but i have it set to fade in around 10 seconds after a user arrives at the site. I found that the best way of catching a users attention without turning them off immediately with annoying pop ups.

On your second point below, i could agree more.

I like the widgets; I want to use them. My comment is a request to have more options that will fit within standard ad unit sizes.

I wanted to use the widgets on some of my blogs and sites, but they are the wrong size to fit my designs that are based on industry standard banner, button, and skyscraper sizes.

There is too much white space surrounding the skyscraper to be able to use it.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau publishes ad units guidelines and it would be geat if the widget could be made available in some of the other standard sizes.

http://www.iab.net/standards/adunits.asp

I can work Leaderboards, Full Banner, Vertical Banner, Square Button, and Skyscraper ads into my designs and would be willing to give it a try if they were available.

Some of these sizes would not support all the content in the current widgets, and I would be interested to see smaller units with the Apsense logo linked to my business center and three of my blog posts.

If that were made available as a Vertical Banner (120x240) I would be able to put that on thousands of my pages.

The current skyscraper is larger than the Wide Skyscraper ad unit and doesn't fit in any of my designs.

The rectangle is too large, as well.

I managed to put it on my home page at http://JohnDilbeck.com , but had to replace a profitable Adsense unit to try it.

So, I'm hoping that the widget designers will give us some standard-size widgets so we can give them more exposure.

If this isn't possible, I guess I'll design some static graphics, or use Feedburner.com Headline Animator banners like the one I added to my business center at http://johndilbeck.apsense.com .

All the best,

JD

First, I want to apologize for breaking the rules for this group. I did not intend for my previous post to be considered advertising.

The point I wanted to make was that the widgets would be much easier to use if they complied with the standard ad size units. Most of my sites and blogs are designed around those standard sizes and the current widgets don't fit.

I managed to find one place where I can use the Rectangle widget and another site where I could show the skyscraper, but it would fit better if it were narrower.

I'm just tossing out some ideas, here.

I like the idea of the widgets and I look forward to being able to use them more widely in the future.

All the best,

JD

I have brought up being able to customize the colors as well as adding different sizes. And they plan on updating the widget over time. It is another fairly new feature. Lynn
