Memories

MEMORIES

Mom, washing clothes by hand.

Dad, he thought he was a bear;

And inside he "" was ", a teddy bear.

Church, where my soul was saved forever.

Mamaw, with her bear hugs.

Papaw, sitting quietly, and smiling.

As we played games on the floor at his feet.

Sisters and brothers, fussing over things

That now do not matter at all.

School days and the lessons learned.

Teachers, who loved their students.

Students, who respected their teachers.

Graduation, marking a new beginning.

My wedding day and the man I wed.

My firstborn, a son, how beautiful life is!

My daughter, years later,

The sunshine of our lives.

Death, grandparents, then parents.

God's promise, to be reunited in Heaven.

Grandchildren, memories to come.

Memories. I have quite a collection myself. At some point I will share something I wrote about my grandmother. I will share others as well. Your poem is excellent and an inspiration to others to express themselves and share part of their life with us. I will be looking forward to seeing more of your poetry as time goes on. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Phyllis - what a lovely idea to start a group based around poetry. It is a wonderful way for many people to express how they are feeling. Your poem is about the realities of life that we all recognize from within our own lives and it brings our own thoughts and hopes to the surface.

Thank you
