There is no any appropriate number of times you should use a keyword. Focus on writing content naturally mixing it with some powerful & highly relevant term related to the keyword.

You can even rank for a keyword if it is not used in a content if it is any way relevant & useful for the searcher.

So focus on providing quality & relevant content. Use keyword where it is necessary. Add popular phrases, words related to the topic.
