Aortic valve replacement is a surgical procedure used to treat diseases affecting the aortic valve, one of the four valves that control blood flow through your heart.

Aortic valve surgery is also called aortic valve replacement surgery. It is a kind of surgical procedure. Performed in cases of aortic regurgitation (when the valve does not close properly and there is a backflow of blood) or aortic stenosis (when it does not open properly for the outflow of blood).
