Review on Anxiety Disorder TherapyI had never come across people with unnatural or extreme behaviour till I happened to join a company for employment. I came across a subordinate who would behave strangely at times,often creating fear in me. Later, I learnt of his mood swings due to depression.
I used to feel people who talk of depression are basically escapists till I was proved otherwise by a senior medical practitioner that certain people have some phobias, in fact, all of us have some phobia or the other. Some people have claustrophobia, some have agoraphobia, some have acrophobia etc. I asked him if it was due to improper upbringing during childhood. A panic attack is caused when our body responds to fear or stress in an abnormal way. When faced with a danger, the body gears itself by producing adrenalin. But when too much adrenaline floods the body, it causes feelings of absolute fear orterror. If someone experiences multiple and continous attacks, they can develop a cycle of fear.
Charles Linden who himself was a victim of panic disorder, developed a routine to treat his own symptoms, including techniques to regain normal breathing and relax tense muscles.
