Would you try face sculpting for a perfectly shaped face?

by Eckart Duane fashion&beauty

Do you envy women who have perfect features and always manage to look good? Many women are unhappy with their looks and wish to have camera-friendly facial features like high cheekbones, a small, sharp nose, a good jaw line, etc. If you too are amongst them, you no longer need to resort to Photoshop or other such photo-editing tools. Advancements in cosmetic surgery have made it possible to alter your face. Dr Abraham Zachariah, a well-known cosmetic surgeon at SevenHills Hospital, tells us more about face sculpting and rejuvenation with cheek and chin implants, nose reshaping and tissue grafting.

One of the first things that often come to mind when opting for such a surgery is whether or not is it safe. Since it involves altering and sculpting your face, it is justified to be concerned about the results as well as the side-effects. According to Dr Abraham, ‘There are no major side-effects of any of these procedures. They do carry minor risks such as infection, or minor collection of blood at the surgical site but these can be prevented or treated even if they do occur.’

What’s in store?

All the following are minor cosmetic surgeries which are safe in nature.

Cheek and chin implants – These are best-suited for individuals who have a weak or receding chin or those who lack the roundness and prominence of cheek mounds. These cause the face to appear flat without much definition. Cheek and chin/jaw implants are bio-compatible synthetic implants that add volume to the skeletal structure of the cheeks and chin. These implants are inserted via small hidden incisions.

Nose reshaping – This surgery is ideally for individuals whose nose is either too large, too long or with a hump on the bridge of the nose. Even people with a fat nose tip instead of a round, sharp one can opt for this procedure. Nose reshaping is done by a surgical procedure called rhinoplasty. The average downtime is 2 weeks.

Fat tissue grafting – The ideal candidates for this surgery are people who have mature or ageing skin. This surgery is autologous i.e. using one’s own tissue grafts. Matured skin loses a lot of fat tissue of the face which is normally present under the skin during one’s youth. This procedure helps reverse the ageing process. Fat tissue grafting is done by removing some unwanted fat from the abdomen or inner thighs and then injecting that fat into the areas of the face where there is deficiency of fat under the skin.

What to expect?

According to Dr Abraham, ‘One can expect to achieve near-perfect results, within limits, and which are physically possible. They aren’t too drastic yet your features are better defined after the procedure. Unhappiness about the results occurs when the patient is expecting unrealistic results. To avoid such a problem, the surgeon will do an in-depth consultation prior to the procedure, to discuss with the patient what is realistic and possible, and what is not.’ Another good thing about these surgeries is that the results are permanent and do not require any maintenance.

If you’ve always wanted your face to look as per your desires, a cosmetic surgeon can help you get there. With minor modifications, you can surely achieve facial features you’ve always wanted.
