Work Smart not Just Hard

by Harakka M. Instructional Strategist, M.Ed.

In a generation where technology, science, commerce plays such pivotal roles in fulfilling our daily needs to building our desires, I strongly believe that hard work only isn’t enough to make it large in this game. A perfect combination of both the work is required to produce the desired results. I’d like to recall one of my favorite childhood quotes which go like…Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort makes all the difference. Isn’t that beautifully stated? I hardly meet anyone who talks about the easiness of dong a particular job, assignment but I’d rather meet up chaps flushing all their difficulties relating to it. Everyone should realize that everything’s difficult before but once you’ve crossed all the lines it becomes an easy thing for you.

Smart work doesn’t imply finding a shortcut to your work. It rather emphasizes on adopting the correct method and principles that’ll help you get your work done in an efficient and effective manner. The world is getting smarter everyday and by every day I mean in every field. The first step in fulfilling your dreams is following and doing work that drives you. Having a clear view of what you want and adopting correct measures is smart work. Certain countries like India, USA and China are giving lessons to their soldiers on outnumbering enemies smartly in a battlefield. As a matter of fact I’d like to make you aware that the Indian made rifle Insas does not have the power to kill a dog but here’s the interesting thing. It was made with a motive to injure soldiers rather than outnumbering them therefore if any soldier were injured he would be accompanied by his fellow soldiers to help him which in turn would increase the number of casualties of the following country.  Why is the govt taking such measures? It’s to bring out the best in you. To utilise one’s potential to the fullest.

There are basic things you need to take care of while doing smart work. You should time yourself; have a goal, purpose, time theme. It also happens in the music world. When you read biographies of legendary artists who have been honoured in the music hall of fame, you often get the feeling of commonness, a sense of beauty. Those musicians understood what they were producing, they felt what they were making and in result they were appreciated by the whole god damn world. It’s true that the world is changing. Companies worth billions are ready to invest on ideas that can help in designing the future. People from every field whether it is school, grad, agriculture etc; are coming up with ideas that can make work ten times easier, safety and in a way in which development takes place at a faster rate.

As far as I’m concerned I’d make sure that I follow these steps and realise how fun it is in doing something that is smart and not just hard work.
