Why Your New Home Needs Vent Cleaning

by Kevin Smith Author

No one wants to breathe dust and other pollutants. Unfortunately, both are everywhere, so avoiding them would mean living in a bubble with an air filtration system. You’d never be able to leave your bubble. You don’t need to go to such extremes to have better air quality. If you’ve recently moved, or are planning a move into a new home, you have the ideal opportunity to improve the air you breathe. Whether you’re building a home or purchasing one that’s been lived in, here are a few reasons why vent cleaning in Norcross, GA, is a good idea.

New Construction

If you’ve not visited the site of your new construction home, now might be a good time. You can check on the building process, which is always fun. You can also find plenty of supporting evidence for your case to have the air ducts cleaned before you move in. Sawdust is everywhere. Drywall scraps, which are full of irritating dust, are scattered around the site. You might find carpet debris too. Normally the construction crew and sub-contractors do their best to clean up the mess but they can’t eliminate dust. You can’t imagine how much of it ends up in your air ducts.

This Old House

If a newly constructed home has dust and other air pollutants, imagine a home where people and their pets have lived. When people live in a house, dust is a natural by-product. If they smoke, smoke particles cling to the walls of the air ducts. Pets shake hair and dander, which also ends up in your ductwork. And every time the HVAC system fires up, you get a fresh dose of dust, dander, and the smell of cigarettes. The nature of an HVAC system means it sucks in all of those things through a system of intake vents and ducts. The system pulls in the used air in the home and exchanges it for fresh outside air, which has gone through either the warming or cooling process. It can’t help but have some dust and debris build-up in the ducts. And it can’t help pushing some of it back out into the inside of the house.

Schedule a Cleaning

Winter is here and most people are spending cozy evenings inside with the furnace running. Maybe you wake up with a stuffy nose but you’re not sick. You or your family members might have that tickly cough that just won’t go away. Or maybe you’ve moved into a home where the previous residents smoked for years. The smell can be irritating, especially when you run the furnace. It’s never too late to schedule an air vent cleaning in Norcross, GA. People have their air vents cleaned year-round.
