Why Friday is a Blessed Day of the Week?

by Ady Grewal Content writer
Every month in the Islamic year has great significance. However, some months are considered more sacred; Ramadan, Moharram, Dhu al-Hijjah, Shawal, Safr, Rabi-ul-Awal. Nonetheless, every month has its unique importance, significance, and association with Islamic history. One thing that is common in all these months is the Friday “Jumma Tul-Mubarak”. The day of Jumma comes 4-5 times in a month, yet, is equally celebrated. Muslims offer an additional 2 Rakat Faraz Namaz at the time of Duhr, on this day. Friday is just like the occasion of Eid for Muslims. They get purified, wear new clothes and go to the masjid collectively to offer prayers. If you are on an umrah or hajj through hajj packages 2020, then the importance further increases.

Preparations for Jumma

Taking a shower; Ghusl.
Clipping the nails.
Wearing freshly cleaned or new clothes.
Putting a good fragrance.
Using Miswaak.
Reading Surah Al-Kahf.
Salawat.
Recite Darood Shareef for as many times as you can.
Do good deeds and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.
Give something in Charity; cloths, money, food, medicines, whatever you can.

Here are some of the reasons why Friday is the blessed day of the week.

Muslim Unity and Peace

Friday is just like Eid for Muslims. They perform Ghusl; Wear freshly cleaned/new clothes; wear fragrance, and go to Masjid to offer Jumma prayer. The crowd in the masjid during Jumma prayers is humongous. Just like one would expect on the day of Eid. People listen to Khutbah, offer prayer and even interact with each other afterward. Some people host dinner for their family and friends on this day. So, they can celebrate it to the full extent.

Higher rewards

The reward for every good deed gets multiplied on Friday.

Charity; Charity given on Friday is far superior to other days. As narrated in Islam, the reward given for charity on the day of Jumma is much exceptional and higher.

Ziyarath in Heaven; As narrated by Anas ibn Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him), The believers in Heaven will be able to see Allah Almighty on Friday. i.e. Allah will appear to them.

The fire of Hell; As a mark of honor and respect of Jumma Tul-Mubarak, the fire of hell is lighted on every single day of the week except Friday.

Dying on the Day of Jumma; One of the many sacred occasions to die a Muslim can wish for is Friday. The Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) narrated that, any Muslim who dies on Jumma, either during day or night, Allah will protect them from the trial of the grave.

Walking to the Jumma Prayer; When walking towards masjid for Jumma prayer, every Muslim gets rewarded equal to the blessings of both the Qiyaam (i.e., the night prayer) and fasting a full year.

The day of forgiveness

Jumma is the day of forgiveness. Allah Almighty showers infinite blessings on Muslims on this day. The duas get accepted. One who repents on its sins can easily have them forgiven by Allah.

That’s why, for Muslims, Friday is not only the blessed day of the week but also the sacred one.
