Why Domestic Travel for 2022?

by John L. Travel Writer

The year 2021 is coming to a close and 2022 is a few weeks away. As the world is slowly opening up from being closed and isolated for months, people are getting more excited to explore and travel again. Many are now shifting to domestic travel as it is more convenient based on the current situation. The travel industry suffered a lot because of the recent events, and people starting to go out more can help travel-related businesses during these trying times. With travel restrictions still in place and strict health standards being practiced indefinitely, domestic travel is the way to go. With many people isolated and separated for a very long time, it will be a great feeling to finally travel with a group, be it your family, friends, or church, once again.

Here are some of the reasons why should you get more into domestic travel:

Experience unique and diverse cultures of your country

The United States is not only diverse in geography and landscapes, it is also a melting pot of cultures. Being a country of immigrants and due to its massive land area, a lot of different cultures, customs, and traditions have developed throughout US history. Every state has something unique to offer to its visitors. From Native American heritage, the adventurous wild west, the luxurious glitz, and glamor, the bustling large metropolis, the flare that came from Latin America to the energetic African-American culture,  the culture of the United States is like a fairy exploded with all its vibrant colors. With many of the present-day US citizens identifying themselves with immigrant roots, many carried their heritage’ rich cultures and made American culture more flavorful.

See the natural beauty of the United States

Because of its size, the United States is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. Each state, and each region, has a unique view to offer. From east to west, north to south, the landscapes and climates vastly vary, and traveling through them is almost like going to totally different countries. From the beaches of Florida, the canyons of the West, the forests of New Hampshire, the Great Lakes, the mighty Mississippi River, the California Redwood Forests, to the Alaskan glacier, the possibilities of a spectacular view are endless. No need to go to an exotic island destination to witness the wonders of nature, simply explore the United States.

Support the local economy

When you travel domestically, you are giving support to local businesses that are needed in these trying times. Local airlines, bus companies, car rental companies, travel agencies, food establishments, attractions, shops, and many more will need a lot of push towards recovery as we slowly open up. Traveling within the borders of the United States keep your money within the country and therefore help these businesses keep their doors open and provide jobs to many travel sector workers and providers. Imagine having your next family reunion in the US, you will need a group travel agency that provides a complete reunion service, hotel rooms, transportation, an events organizer, party favors, catering, attractions tickets, perhaps an activities host, and many more. You will be providing a lot of jobs for so many people.

Traveling domestically is more affordable

You don’t need expensive flights to go to your destination, you can even choose from the many budget carriers that operate in the United States. Or if you are more adventurous, go on a road trip with the whole family and see the scenic sights along the freeways. Domestic travel also allows you to travel as a group which means you can split up the cost with more people. There is also no need to spend on processing your travel documents such as passports, visas, and insurance. And with the current restrictions on international travel, many travel establishments are giving great deals to attract more customers. If you plan your next travel, you might get lucky and get some good prices.

Travel with comfort and convenient

One of the many challenges of traveling to another country is adapting to a new and foreign environment. Communication would always have a barrier as most likely than not you will not speak the same language as the people of that particular country. Adjusting to the norms and customs of your host country can also be worrisome. Though it is always good to experience and learn something new, some people are not that adventurous and adaptable. By traveling in your own country, these challenges are limited. The United States may be diverse but there is no significant language barrier (aside from slight differences in accent, tone, and slang). You are most likely familiar with the acceptable norms in the place that you are visiting. There is no big adjustment in terms of food. And there is a wide range of accommodations that you can choose from based on your preference.

Discover new things about your country

There are always new things to discover in the United States. It is such a large country with diverse scenery, culture, food, traditions, and attractions. Traveling domestically makes you discover those sites that are off the beaten tracks and far from the touristy areas that you already know. Bringing the whole family with you for a family reunion will make it another level of adventure. The family can experience new things together, take part in new traditions, and create more long-lasting memories.

With international travel limited only to those deemed essential, domestic leisure travel seems to be the way that the travel industry is going indefinitely, which is not a bad thing at all. It is a good way to reunite with your family and loved ones that were separated from many of us during times of isolation. Good thing there are a lot of travel agencies in the United States who can provide great reunion service for your family. It is important that as the world slowly opens up, we also start to reconnect and travel more, at least within our country for now.
