Why does the keto diet cause a skin rash?

by Stephan Fleming Digital Marketing Expert

Adherence to a ketogenic diet can sometimes cause itching, which is a rash commonly referred to by people as a ketogenic rash. The medical term for ketoacidosis is pigment itching. Keto allergies are different because they create an eye-like pattern all over the skin. It usually affects the upper body. Researchers do not yet know why a ketogenic diet causes dermatitis, but they think the rash may be related to ketosis. Many different treatments and lifestyle options can reduce symptoms.

The rash is a rare form of dermatitis or dermatitis. It is an itchy and uncomfortable rash that develops in the upper body. One possible cause of a keto rash is following a keto diet. This diet is becoming increasingly popular because ketosis offers many potential health benefits, including promoting weight loss. The keto diet is low in carbohydrates but high in protein and fat. When a person follows this long-term eating habit, their body begins to break down body fat for energy, not carbohydrates. Converts body fat into ketones.

A person enters a state of ketosis when the body converts its main source of energy into a ketone body. The majority of reports of keto rash have been in Japan, and as of 2011, only 40 cases have been reported in other countries. The reason for this may be that Western doctors do not know the situation.

The cause of the keto rash is not clear, but studies suggest that ketosis may be a possible cause of the condition.

In addition to the keto diet, fasting and diabetes can also cause ketosis.

Other possible causes or causes of Keto rash are:

1. Hormonal changes during pregnancy and menstruation

2. One of the complications is a reliable source of obesity surgery

3. Skin dermatitis

Keto rash appears as itchy, reddish papules on the skin. Erythema can be difficult to detect on red or dark skin.

The rash on the upper body is the most common and affects:

1. Breast

2. Return

3. neck

Ketogenic rash may be associated with other skin diseases such as consolidation, retinal cell papillomatosis, contact dermatitis and some drug reactions. However, it is possible to distinguish ketogenic rashes by the eye pattern, which remains on the skin when the red bumps disappear.

People who follow a keto diet or develop Keto allergies  after fasting can be treated by increasing their carbohydrate intake. Doctors may also prescribe topical medications or oral antibiotics to prevent the rash.
