Why Do We Love Celeb Gossip

by Kelly Estes Provider
No one misses the column with the latest gossip on celebrities. No matter how much we judge or misjudge a gossip mongering attitude in our personal lives, celebrity gossip is something no one wants to ignore. We all love it, we all want derive pleasure out of it. Whether it is the fashion trends, juicy breakups, heated love affairs, celebrity scandals, driving rage, or leaked celebrity holiday pictures, we are curious about it all. In this write-up, we explore why we love celebrity gossip so much and is it worth the time.

So, what is that about these celebrities that attract us towards them? They are leading politicians, actors, starlets, sportsmen, poets, and the list is endless. A celebrity is a person who has excelled in a particular field and is thus in constant media gaze. A celebrity is someone who is famous yet might be infamous for scandals and might be a personal favourite of a media people. Knowing these people, following their examples, avoiding their mistakes, are some of the prominent reasons why we follow their lives ardently.

When it comes to wardrobe, most of us followed one or more than one celebrity for his unique hair style, accessory or set of clothes. Hence, they’re trendsetters whom we love to follow for their fashion statements. So, many of us want to look like our idols and sometimes even date men/women who look like our favourite celebrities.

Many a times, I’ve found that many people get an outlet through celebrity gossip. Many fans project their dreams, hopes and fears onto celebrities, which mean a daydream into their lifestyles and life choices. Can I achieve so much media attention? Am I too destined to lead a life like my favorite actress? Who hasn’t fantasized about being a celebrity jam packed by paparazzi? But as we grow old, we need to learn that not everyone is bound to be famous, and being famous isn’t the only thing which matters in life.

Sometimes, a seemingly innocent following of latest gossip on celebrities turns into a dangerous worshiping where youngsters often get swayed into habits which might hurt these youngsters in the long run. Obsession and stalking are two extreme results of the same and may lead to hugely disappointing behaviour. A thorough carefulness on the part of parents and older siblings might help to keep this in check.
