When Cleanliness And Warmth Go Together

by Design Radiator Designerradiatorsdirect

Consumerism is all about choice and this applies to modern central heating systems just as it applies to the brand of handbag you carry or the supermarket you prefer to shop at.

This may seem an obvious statement about central heating but for those of us who remember the sixties and seventies it is quite relevant.

Before those years most homes did not have any central heating at all. It was a combination of things that resulted in the boom of this type of heating along with two other home improvements in window and door double glazing as well as fitted carpets.

A fitted carpet along with central heating was considered the height of sophistication and if you had double glazing as well you were considered extremely posh or well-off!

The fact is that at this time consumerism really did take off with the doldrums of the after war years behind and the advantages of something called credit which found banks and building societies falling over backwards in their desire to lend cash.

Once the new central heating system was installed and you found any excuse to ask your neighbor in for a cup of tea on a freezing day knowing full well they did not have this luxury, the next bit of sophistication was to have heated towel radiators installed in the bathroom.

This unheard of luxury could keep the neighbors gossiping for months.

The point about consumerism breeding choice is that back in those days once the slick door to door heating salesman had left with your signature to his company and a standing order to your bank, you probably did not have a clue what the radiators would look like or where the boiler was made.

With only a couple of boiler makers back in those days there was no reason to care who made it and consequently every household fitted with new systems generally had the same.

Today there are more than one hundred boiler makes on the market and radiator design has in the last few years come a huge step forward.

If you still have those original white panel wall mounted radiators with nineteen-seventies written all over then you are in for a great treat when you look at modern stylish radiators that you can replace them with.

This also includes the old heated towel radiator in the bathroom. Today instead of a single rail they come in all shapes and sizes and do not be fooled just by the design Efficiency has become an important word in the last decade as we all attempt to save energy.

As a result, the new radiators for towels are super-efficient as well as stylish. The box shaped ones ensure the maximum amount of heat is partially trapped to ensure that the whole towel is heated and not just one surface area.

Take a look at the full range and remember that it is not necessary to replace all radiators at once if that is financially not possible.
