When Anxious Say Bye to Alcohol

by Duval Alexander Health Care Specialist

There are many reasons for a person not to choose alcohol when suffering from anxiety attacks. If hangover is one valid reason, there are scores of graver situations and reasons for people to quit it. Serious illness related to nervous system is one of consequences of alcohol abuse. There are many other conditions that affect important parts of our body. Drinking alcohol does not give you confidence or relax you, but rather makes you more nervous and strains your nervous system to greater extent. When one knows what parts and functioning of the body is affected after consuming alcohol, then he or she may put in little more efforts to come out of this habit.

Serotonin Level: Serotonin is secreted in brain that gives us a feeling of well being. This secretion is affected when one consumes alcohol. That means one may not be feeling good after having alcohol.

Nervous system: Our nervous system does everything in its control, to counter-act the affects of drinking. This makes one hyperactive, as blood levels in alcohol trigger a reaction from brain in this manner. It makes one lose sleep and be sensitive to environment around, this is opposite of what our body needs when in anxiety.

Trigger Anxiety attack: Strange but it is true that alcohol consumption triggers anxiety attacks. A person will have decreased sugar levels in blood, which is one of the reasons to trigger anxiety levels. That is, when blood sugar level goes down, a person may feel dizzy, confused and nervous and may also tremble.

Affecting Heart: A person’s heart may be working at a faster rate. This results in palpitation like symptoms. This can trigger an anxiety attack, when person fears that he, or she is undergoing mortal symptoms. That is, people who think that they are going through a heart attack, may become anxious to get help and further worsen its symptoms.

Nausea and Fatigue: Alcohol generally dehydrates our body completely and this may trigger reactions like nausea, extreme tiredness, lightheaded feeling, and other similar conditions of anxiety attacks. This may depress a person and draw him, or her more into anxiety attack.

Brain Activity: As said earlier, nervous system has its own responses to tackle rising alcohol levels in blood, which affect the way our brain functions. That is, a person loses his, or her concentration, or focus ability. He or she may be very disoriented. It is still debatable whether people should consume alcohol at all, when suffering from anxiety. Some say that small quantities like wine(single glass), after dinner and more water after drink may not be bad after all, but some people argue that, anxiety prone people should not consume alcohol even in small amounts. If one is not able to judge for themselves whether they should consume alcohol or not, consulting health specialist might help. Few people are not able to control themselves once they start drinking in small amounts. They fall into the category of most anxiety prone people. For people with weak self control, staying away from alcohol is best medicine.

Anxiclear is best for this.
