What To Consider While Renovating Your Children’s Bathroom?

by Alvin Williams Marketing Manager at Aphrodite Marble & Granite Co

When you have a home of your own, you want it to look the best, don’t you? The same goes for bathrooms. Many people are very picky about their bathroom appearances, like me.

Besides keeping it clean, I like it to look a particular way. I’m always in for redecorating and renovating the interiors of my bathroom to give it a different look. It might sound crazy, but I change basic themes around the bathroom for a different look every six months.

Well, just to share my love for bathroom designing, here’s me sharing a few things with you about how I redesigned my children’s bathroom.

3 Tips To Redesign Children’s Bathroom

  1. Flooring

While choosing a theme for your bathroom, remember that your flooring will have to compliment or replicate that color.

You can absolutely use a few contrasts as well and wooden floorings are great too if you’re into antique looks.

When you’re choosing something for your children’s bathroom, you’ve got to take into account their age and whether or not you’re willing to redesign once they grow up.

My kids were 2 and 5 when I redesigned their bathroom, so I chose to keep it fancy and dreamy.

I used pastel blue and pink as the basic theme and went forward from there. Their tiles were ceramic pink and the walls white and blue. You could use these or other vibrant colors too.

  1. Bathroom countertop

By far, the hardest decision you have to make while renovating your bath is the countertop. You need to figure out which material to use and what color tone you need.

The best way to go about this is to decide based on the overall look you want to give your bathroom. Do you want to give it a rustic look, vintage look, doll-house look, sophisticated look or a basic bathroom look?

There’s a wide variety to choose from such as granite, marble, quartz, natural stone, and laminated. My favorite is quartz though, it can be engineered to any shape and sink basins can be integrated with it as well.

The best thing about quartz countertops is that it is available in many colors and styles and it is less brittle and stronger in comparison to natural stone slabs.

  1. Accessories

Now when I talk about accessories here, I’m talking about the lights, wall hangings, faucets, mats and anything else that you add into your bathroom.

These I tell you, should be subtle and elegant because these will enhance the look of your bath.

I personally am a fan of lights and photo frames, so I added them to my kids’ bath too.

I set the lights above and around the mirror so that even when the ceiling light is turned off, the mirror will glow and light up the room. My kids particularly love this part of their bathroom and I’m sure yours will love it too.

I’ve put up their very own paintings and drawings in a frame and hung them up near the countertop and above the commode.

I’ve also inserted LED lights in the corners of the bath and above the tub to accentuate the color of the walls.

Conclusion

There’s a lot more you can do with your bathroom, especially if you’re designing it for your kids. Remember to keep it cute and simple and use things your kids would love.
