What is the Youngest Age to Win a Merit Based Scholarship?

by Mona Singh Writer

You want the best for your child. One of the best ways to help them secure ample opportunities in the future is to give them the best education they can afford. For many parents, the cost of the best international schools in India puts them off.

It feels too premium to join. But did you know you can enroll your child in a top Indian global school for up to 20% off the fees?

Merit-based scholarships are one way to do that.

For example, you can apply for a merit-based scholarship to help your child access the award-winning 9GEMS holistic education curriculum. That way, your child can use the internationally-recognized framework to get the right knowledge and exposure for the 21st century.

But what award criteria do you need to meet to get the scholarship?

For example, how old does your child need to be to win a merit-based scholarship?

Here are some answers to questions you may have about the Merit-based scholarship program at GIIS Noida Campus.

What is a Merit-Based Scholarship?

The scholarship awards deserving and distinguished students whose family background may not be able to finance their education.

Who qualifies to apply?

Applying for the scholarship is open to everyone.

Do note that each scholarship has its qualification criteria. Do check with the specific one you wish to apply to get the precise details.

But if your child does well at school but comes from a humble background, the Global Schools Foundation (GSF) would want to know about it.

What school levels does the scholarship cater to?

Each scholarship program has a unique niche it caters to.

But here are examples.

  • The Mahatma Gandhi Universal Values Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship goes out to students in nursery, Kindergarten 1-2, and Grade 1-12. During its 2-year tenure, it can cover up to 20% of your tuition fees obligation.

You can apply for help to finance your child's education, whether in preschool, kindergarten 1-2, primary, secondary, or high school.

However, you'll be asked to attach your child's academic history, detailing their performance in the last two years. So, your child may have to gather the experience first.

That may translate to being at least 4.5 years old before applying successfully.

  • If your child is in grades 11 to 12, you can apply for the Global Future Ready Merit Scholarship.

  • The prestigious Global Citizen Scholarship is open to students in grade 10.

  • And, if your child shows distinction in other fields such as technology, she will be eligible for the respected Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Global Skills Scholarship.

How do you apply?

If you need financial support to get your child through school, please apply for the best scholarship program and reach out to our admission counselor for the scholarship admission inquiry form.

Head over to the applications' pages of the one you choose, and fill in your details.

Remember, all incomplete applications are automatically disqualified. So, do check that you have all the correct information and attachments ready to go.

The Global Schools Foundation will give you feedback within ten days from your application date.
