What Causes Rashes at the Baby’s Bottom Side?

by Harleen Kaur Content Writing

For parents who have recently given birth to a child, taking good care of the child is not easy as it may seem. Other than just feeding him timely, getting him bathed or cleaned properly is a tough task, especially when the little baby has pooped or urinated. A common sign that one can easily find on the baby’s skin is a red rash, especially near his bottom area. It can be because of using unsafe baby care wipes, not cleaning the baby timely after he has pooped etc. These rashes may even cause irritation to the child, which he just cannot talk about in his little age. Thus, it is important for parents to know well about what causes rashes and how they can be prevented from occurring.

1.    Not Cleaning The Baby’s Bottom Properly

It happens sometimes that parents either do not know how to clean the newly born babies, or they do it in a hurry. In both the cases, the chances are high that urine or fecal waste does not get properly cleaned from the baby’s bottom area. This can become a reason for the reddish rashes on the skin to exist.

This can simply be avoided by maintaining proper hygiene of a child’s body, and cleaning him properly at all times.

2.    Not Using Safe Baby Cleaning Wipes

One can easily find a wide range of baby wipes available online as well as in local stores. But the fact says that not all of them are healthy to use. Some baby wipes have excessive scents or chemicals in them, which can cause harm to the soft skin of a new born baby. Thus, one should always buy baby cleaning wipes from a renowned brand, or the one recommended by a child’s doctor. Also, one should always buy fragrance-free and anti-bacterial baby wipes.

3.    Using Cloth Diapers That Cannot Absorb Urine

In India, some people prefer to use cloth diapers, cutting and stitching a piece of cloth at home to be used as diapers for new born babies. But cotton cloth cannot absorb urine to a good extent, and stays wet after a child has passed the urine in it. This can be one of the reasons that cause rashes to a baby’s skin. To prevent this, one should prefer using good quality diapers, and not those made at home for children.

4.    Using Harsh Soaps To Get the Babies Bathed

Ordinary soaps used by adults should never be used for bathing a new borne baby. They are not suitable for the sensitive skin of the babies. Using the same soaps that adults use, for babies can cause skin problems and rashes. This should be strictly avoided. Instead, parents should always buy and use baby soaps as recommended by a child doctor.

For parents of newly born babies, it is important to know that rashes can sometimes occur unexpectedly and vanish by themselves. But if your child has rashes on his bottom side for a long time, it’s time to consult a doctor.
