Pre-Wedding Rituals

Chandlo is a red vermillion Tika and Matli simply means money. In Gujarat, ChandloMatli custom is performed where the four of the groom's male family members visit the bride's home. The father of the bride applies chandlo on his forehead and gifts money as a token of acceptance. On this day, the wedding date is fixed by both the families together.

GolDhana represents the engagement ceremony where the couple exchanges the engagement rings and seeks blessings from the five married women from both family sides.

After that, some more  rituals take place like ganeshsthapna, griha shanti, mehndi, sangeetsandhya where both the families get together to sing and dance on folk songs, perform Garba and Dandiya with full fervour!

Proceeding ahead with MandapMahurat, Pithi (haldi ceremony), mosalu and mameru where the bride's maternal aunt's husband (mousa) and maternal uncle (mama) gives a visit to the bride's house before the day of wedding gifting traditional panetar saree, ivory chura, jewellery, and sweets.
