The 65th Primetime Emmys take place at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on Sunday, and Gossip Cop will have live streaming coverage right here. Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, the awards show will honor the best in television. There will also be tributes to key TV events of the 1960s, and special memorials in memory of James Gandolfini, Cory Monteith, and more stars.

The ceremony will be aired live on CBS. The award show will be held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre with Neil Patrick Harris hosting the show. The Governors Ball is an annual formal sit-down dinner with up to 3,800 attendants who will dine and watch the Emmys. Sunday night prime time TV usually means programming that includes something for everyone, and tonight is certainly no exception. The NFL “Sunday Night Football” battle between the Bears and the Steelers will appease the armchair quarterbacks.

The ceremony at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, airing at 5 p.m. Sunday on CBS2 with host Neil Patrick Harris, will boast its fair share of movie stars as well, among them TV movie nominees Michael Douglas and Matt Damon for the Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra” and Al Pacino and Helen Mirren for “Phil Spector.”

There could be history made: “Scandal” star Kerry Washington, the first African-American nominee for best actress in a drama since Cicely Tyson in 1995 for “Sweet Justice,” would be the first ever to win.

But all eyes will likely be on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” vying with cable series “Breaking Bad” and “Mad Men” for best drama.

The political thriller, the first online program to compete for the top trophy, is part of a video universe explosion that’s added streaming services including Netflix and websites like YouTube to broadcast, cable and satellite TV delivery.

Both CBS and NBC were honored this year with 53 nominations, the most of any non-cable network. For the rest of us, the “65th Prime Time Emmy Awards” hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and the final episode of “Dexter” should do nicely. After Harris’s epic opening number as host of the “67th Tony Awards” this past June, he has definitely set the bar high.

Tonight Dave Itzkoff and Jon Caramanica are live blogging the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards. Stay tuned for live commentary, photos from the show and the red carpet and more. The ceremony, which will be broadcast on CBS, begins at 8 p.m. Eastern.
