Want Better Hair Transplant Results? Here Are 5 Tips To Choose A Surgeon Wisely

by Anju S. Marketing expert & Business analyst

While getting some over the counter oils and ointments to try and grow your hair back is one thing, but committing to a hair transplant is a whole different ball game. This is not a decision that you need to take lightly and choosing the right hair transplant surgeon will be the first step in the right direction. Many a times, people tend to get carried away by the large billboards and promises of heavy discounts, but that is not what should be a part of the decision-making process. Rather than a glamourous clinic, you need to be on the lookout for an experienced hair transplant surgeon and here are the five most important pointers that you need to keep in mind:

  • Qualification – Perhaps one of the first and foremost aspects that you need to check is the qualification of the surgeon and never be shy to ask of it. When you first meet with your transplant surgeon, make sure that you ask what their qualifications are and you can even ask about any extra certifications or courses they might have done. It would not be wrong to ask to see their licenses and accreditations either, because these are absolutely imperative and speak of the calibre of the surgeon.

  •  Expertise and experience – There is experience  and then there is expertise and while both  might seem similar, they are actually vastly different. Expertise could come with education – when a surgeon spends time learning new procedures and perfecting  the same, that would be expertise, but that need not make for an experienced hair transplant surgeon . Experience comes with a high number of successful  procedures being completed, but both are  of equal importance, which is why you need  to ask about both and ensure that the surgeon  that you are considering has both.

  • Other facilities at the clinic – A transplant  surgeon will be able to work miracles only  if he or she has the right tools – this means that while the talent and experience of the surgeon is paramount, the clinic where he or she practise their craft is  just as important. In order for your  transplant to be successful, the clinic where the procedure will be done need to be equipped with latest equipment. Just  as important is the clinic’s capability to handle more than one procedure – you should  be able to take a pick from a variety of procedures, rather than being stuck with just one.

  • Success rate and testimonials – This is actually a great way to figure out whether  an experienced hair transplant surgeon truly  is what he or she claims to be. Not only should you enquire about the success rate of the surgeon, you should also ask to see  before and after pictures to have visual  proof that whatever they are claiming  is true. In addition to that, you can  ask for client testimonials from previous patients or for references. By looking at pictures and reading through testimonials, you should be able to get a reasonable idea of how good this surgeon is.

  • Covid precautions – Given that we are still emerging from a state of pandemic, these days, asking and  enquiring about covid protocols is just as important. When you are trying to zero  in on an experienced hair transplant surgeon, you also need to enquire about the safety protocols in place – will everyone be wearing masks and gloves, is  sanitiser available to everyone, are the procedure rooms sanitised on a regular basis, are all the staff members vaccinated and so on.

Once you have gone through all these pointers, you should be able to finalise on a transplant surgeon who is good for you – the success of your transplant will be dependent not only on the  quality of the grafts extracted  from your body, but also the  talent of the surgeon!
