using 3-D scanning technology in modern dentistry

by Richard Siggers Dental Help and Advice

With 3D Technology we can now enhance the patient experience with fast, accurate real colour impressions.

The new 3Shape Trios Scanner allows our dentists to take accurate tooth and mouth impressions saving the patients’ time and having to undergo the discomfort from conventional dental impressions.

With TRIOS® digital technology and CAD/CAM software, our dentists have the ability to create high quality life-like colour impressions. These accurate dental images allows us to demonstrate to our patients how we can create the perfect restoration and match the colour of their smile.

The 3D impressions can then be sent electronically direct from the dental surgery to our labs who can produce perfect fitting dental crowns, bridges, dental inlays, onlays and veneers too.

  • ·         You spend less time in the dental chair
  • ·         Less grinding when a crown or bridge is fitted
  • ·         Less chance of having to have more than one appointment to have your crown fitted
  • ·         Avoid using messy impressions
  • ·         Prevent gagging when impression taking
  • ·         Make impression taking comfortable - in fact we don't even need to touch you

If you are nervous about visiting the dentist and having conventional dental impressions made, or would like to know more about how we can improve your comfort, please call the practice and our friendly staff would be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

It's now possible to have Invisalign using the new iTero Digital system

This means you can now have straighter teeth without the need for any physical impressions at all. Your digital scan of your mouth is sent via the internet securely to Invisalign directly, this saves valuable time as we no longer have to wait for the post, plus increases accuracy and comfort.

  • Increased Comfort
  • Reduced Time
  • Increased Quality

With conventional dentistry we have to rely upon the accurateness of the rubber impression material, this can often distort or fail to accurately record the fine details of your teeth. This means that when we are making your new crown or tooth the quality could be compromised due to these flaws.

Using Digital Impressions we can see a virtual model of your teeth appear before us on the screen, this means that if there are any flaws we can see them and correct them immediately - impossible with conventional dentistry.

The result means that you will receive a higher quality result with none of the messy impressions normally associated with dentistry - this leaves you:

  1. ·         Clean - no messy impression material around your face
  2. ·         Relaxed - no gagging or material in the back of your throat
  3. ·         Delighted - as the result are better and there is less chance of any errors

We truly believe that digital dentistry is THE way to go, what are your thoughts?
