In Philippines, Department of Agriculture (DA) has introduced low cost tablet PCs for framers. DA is working with Hyderabad, India based International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to develop tablet PCs at an easy price. It’s also looking for partnership to develop tablet PCs which are priced low.

The market in India, is flooded with low cost tablet PCs launched by Indian Tablet PC makers in past few months. ICRISAT in India is providing support to the DA in Philippines for fabricating hardware. ICRISAT is aiding to provide Agropedia, software developed for Indian Farmers. Agropedia is farm management software which is developed by a consortium seven institutions including ICRISAT.

In Indian market tablets can be range from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 50,000. The price of the tablet Pc depends on the various factors: which OS is being used, what is the size of the screen, what kind of processor, how much is the storage, makers of tablet PCs and may other functionalities. While Samsung tablets have acquired a big portion in market of Tablet PC in India, comparatively Google is a new add-on in the market.
