Rashi Shah, representing the International Student an initiative from the University of British Columbia visited The Cathedral Vidya School today to address the IBDP students. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year educational programme primarily aimed at 16 to 19-year-olds. The programme provides an internationally accepted qualification for entry into higher education and is recognized by many universities worldwide. It was developed in the early to mid-1960s in Geneva Switzerland, by a group of international educators. Post their International Baccalaureate Diploma Program students from Pune boarding schools stand the opportunity to pursue their further education at any international or national university making themselves global citizens.

Ms. Rashi Shah explained that the University of British Columbia is a public research university with campuses in Vancouver and Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Established in 1908, UBC is British Columbia's oldest university. The university has ranked among the top three universities in Canada.

UBC is one of the few universities in the world that offer an undergraduate degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Combined Honours in Physics and Astronomy is intended for students who plan to pursue graduate study in astronomy and a research career.
