Diagnosis and Treatment of back pain

Dr. Pispati further explained about diagnosis and treatment for back pain

Back pain that lasts more than 14 days is considered a severe one and in cases like these, a person is suggested to see an orthopedic surgeon. Before the treatment of a certain type of back starts, a proper diagnosis is must. X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans are some of the most common diagnostic methods for back pain. Once the reason of the back pain is known, the doctor recommends a suitable treatment for the same. Some of the treatments or technologies that are used to resolve back pain are:

Surgery: Today surgery is the most common type of treatment for back pain. Endoscopic discectomy and minimally invasive discectomy are the two types of surgeries that are performed for people suffering from back pain. Although it being a modern and advanced treatment option, surgery is a major procedure and recommended to only the patients that are suffering from major back issues.

Ultrasonic Wave Treatment:

 - Radiofrequency Treatment- This treatment is suggested to patients who are hesitant to go for a surgical procedure. It makes use of heat generated from a medium frequency alternating current and denervates the tissue. Thus helping the patient get rid of the agony and suffering.

 - Laser Virtual Reality:  This is used as a source of distraction for patients suffering from pain. With VR headsets the patients get involved into a virtual world that automatically immerses the patients into full body experience.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation: TENS helps reduce pain by sending electrical pulses from within the skin and nerves to the brain. This treatment also boosts the release of endorphins, which is a chemical that help resolve pain naturally

Correction in Posture: In most of the cases of the back pain, the reason is the slouching of one on the work chair or the habit of carrying various activities with a bad posture. Thus bringing chain in the posture while you sit can drastically help in inhibiting back pain. Modern posture correctors are an advanced option that helps one sit in an appropriate posture.”
