Understand Symptoms and Diagnoses of Eczema

by Saraswati Hospital Saraswati Multispeciality Hospital and Trauma Cent
Eczema is a series of skin disorders that are the prime reason for inflammation and irritation. Atopic dermatitis, often known as atopic eczema meaning a person’s tendency to allergies such as asthma, is the most prevalent kind.

Many patients will experience reoccurring symptoms for their entire lives. Although there is no solution, most patients can control their conditions by seeking medical help and eliminating allergens. Eczema is not infectious so it does not get passed on to someone else.

In an interaction with experts from Saraswati Hospital, we learned about the various symptoms that indicate Eczema. Their skin specialist in Bopal, suggests the following symptoms:

Basic symptoms

Eczema develops differently in each individual. The flare-ups will not always occur in the same place.

Eczema is usually always itchy, regardless of whatever region of your skin is affected. Itching might occur before the rash appears. It's also possible that your skin is irritated, red, dry, cracked, or flaky.

Eczema in infants

The itchy rash in babies can cause an oozy, flaking skin condition, mainly on the facial skin and body areas like their arms, legs, back, and chest may also be affected.

Eczema in children

The rash commonly appears in the folds of the elbows, folds of the knees, on the neck, or on the wrists or ankles of children and teenagers. The rash becomes dry and crusty.

Eczema in an adult

The rashes typically appear on the backsides of your knees and elbows. The skin will most likely be dry, thick, and flaky. These areas may turn off crimson and eventually become brown.

Eczema diagnosis

Eczema cannot be detected by any test. Saraswati Hospital’s skin doctor in Bopal will most likely diagnose it by examining your skin and questioning you about a few concerns.

Your doctor may prescribe allergy testing to check for allergens or sensitivities, as many people with eczema also have allergies. Allergy testing is very common in children with eczema.

Eczema treatment

Your doctor will prescribe lotions and creams to keep your skin moist as it's dry and irritating. Lotions and creams help your skin heal by reducing irritation and restoring moisture. Apply them multiple times throughout the day, especially after a bath. Because petroleum jelly and mineral oil build a thick barrier over your skin, they are quite effective in Eczema management.

On an ending note, it is important to take a doctor’s consultation if you have any of the above-mentioned symptoms as acute Eczema can make your day-to-day life uneasy.
