Type of Blouses You Should Wear

by Anika Pathak jewelry designer & author

We all love to clad in traditional clothes and wear beautiful saris and lehengas and put on our beautiful jewellery and get all ethnic in our outfits.

When you decide the design and color scheme of your outfit, the design of the blouse plays a vital role in the look to come together. When you put it on and pair it with your gold jewelry, it is important that the blouse design suits your body structure and flatters all your curves.

1.       Top-heavy figure

It is great that you have great assets, but you have your share of problems when you have to choose the right blouse type with. All you need to do is avoid embellished blouses, mostly the ones with heavy work on the chest area, as they will add weight and looks way to heavy and un-flattering.

Go for plain blouses that are designed with lightweight fabrics, such as georgette, crepe, satin, etc. Also prefer wearing monochrome colors and not large prints. If you want you can try and avoid deep necklines and can flaunt your skin with bare-back blouses.

2.       Small-busted figure

Even though almost every blouse style will suit you; but a blouse which gives the illusion of a fuller bust will work perfectly for you. So for that make sure your blouse is well-padded or definitely has heavy embellishments in the front of the blouse. Since you have a leaner neck you can go for halter necks or collars or you can wear a low cut and then add gold jewelry like a necklace to it.

Go for relatively heavier fabrics, like velvet, tussar silk, brocade, etc., for your blouse. The best part is you can wear any color combination and any sort of pattern you like.

3.       Slim-athletic figure

With this kind of figure you can literally pick up any design of blouse you want and just flaunt it. You will look gorgeous in any style from corsets, noodle straps, halter necks, back less, strap less, off-shoulder, long sleeved, any design basically.

You can simply head out with a design, color combination, material and pattern in mind and get it done and look beautiful in it; that is the perk of having a lean, athletic figure.

4.       Broad-shouldered figure

Broad sculpted bodies are a little difficult to adjust to people and hence they make wrong fashion choices. All you need to do is highlight you back and toned arms by baring it completely. So you need to wear broad necklines with short or no sleeves to conceal your shoulders perfectly. Do not use padded or thin strap blouses as they bring attention to your shoulders, you can opt for off shoulders as well and then wear beautiful gold jewelry to bring all the focus on it and distract people from your shoulders. A beautiful ornate gold necklace or any statement necklace is the perfect attention grabber.

5.       Voluptuous figure

You can make your fuller body work to your advantage by choosing a full-sleeved or quarter-sleeved blouse. This will help you cover your arms and shoulders and bare your perfect back to keep all the attention to it and make you look balanced as well

Mostly avoid wearing styles, like puffed sleeves, noodle straps, halters, etc., because then your arms and shoulders will hog the limelight, even if you do not want them too. Also, prefer lightweight fabrics with smaller prints or light embroidery so that your assets do not look over worked or heavy and make the outfit look ill-fitted and awkward as well, similar thing will happen with patterns and embellishments.
