Two questions that would define the application of Travertine or Slate

by Paul Toomey Marketing Manager

Travertine is as popular as slate tiles for flooring. Through hundreds of years, these tiles have used in residential, commercial's and industrial's indoor and outdoor floors. According to the style, strength, and availability, both tiles are close to one another. The features and profits are quite parallel as well. Then how to differentiate travertine and slate? The question is Travertine or Slate what would be the best for your design. Here some aspects have to be checked.

First, are you planning to decorate your living space or professional space?

Second, is it indoor or outdoor?

These two questions would take you to the correct point.

Q: 1:

Travertine is a durable tile and it can fight dauntlessly and continuously with various dangerous elements. Yet, the form of the limestone is reactive. If vinegar, tomato, orange juice and other reactive ingredients have come closer to the travertine floor, then the floor can be damaged. Travertine needs a sealant. Whether you are using Silver Travertine or Tuscany Beige, both need the sealing and re-sealing time-to-time. The sealant is the protector, though such reactive elements can harm the floor. Apart from it, travertine's daily maintenance is simple of travertine. Any kind of chemical ingredient less clean is applicable. If users bring soap or vinegar, then the tile would damage.

Slate tile needs high-quality sealant as well. The top class sealing would protect the slate tile for a long time. People should not think about the health of their floor. Any kind of ingredients, chemicals, stains or scratches is being thrown away by the slate tile and sealant combination. Though slate tiles are durable, with hammering or high pressure stumping the tile would break. If a tile breaks, then the users have to pay a lot to repair the area. The hot water cleaning is the best idea for keeping the slate tile's beauty.

Thus, users can easily choose Travertine or Slate for their space.

Q: 2:

Travertine is a form of limestone. Limestone is a sedimentary rock that is made up of fragments of corals, molluscs, and forams. As the sedimentation process goes through wind, water, and other natural particles, therefore, the travertine tiles have organic power to fight with nature. The modern travertine stones like, Durango Cream, Philadelphia Travertine, Roman Travertine and others are made of pure limestone.

After the chemical reaction and metamorphism process, the original rock has taken the form of metamorphic rock. Slate tile is an example of a metamorphic rock. The slate tile has gone through extreme heat and built-up the right design. The pure example of such rock has an inspiring look and feel. As the material goes through heat and chemical reactions, therefore, the strength and resistance power has been inherited in it. The California Gold, Ostrich Gray, Montauk Black and latest Peel & Stick ledger are excellent examples of this season.

There is no such conclusion of using Travertine or Slate for the specific design. The article's duty was to highlight some aspects. Now, the people will decide which would be their best choice based on the knowledge. After deciding the exact material they can find the modern tiles in WALL & TILE.
