Tulian Lake Trek - A Travel Guide

Kashmir, a heaven on earth has a dazzling greenish-blue Lake called Tulian lake. It is a short trek. It is located at the center of the Himalayas, approximately 16 km from Pahalgam. The Lake has a maximum altitude of 11000 ft. The Lake has 350 meters in length. The Lake is reachable only through a trekking route. The Lake is one of the most beautiful attractions to visit in Jammu and Kashmir. 

 

Tulian Lake needs to be inspected as it is the secret gem of the Kashmir valley. The clean water of the Lake and its location of it makes it a famous tourist destination. 

 

The Lake lies between the Pir Panjal mountain ranges and Zanskar. The Lake remains frozen for most of the time. And there is a short time it offers the attractive color of blue. The color of the Lake in contrast to ice-capped mountain peaks offers mesmerizing views. The Lake has sometimes large pieces of ice floating in it. There is a twin lake of Tulian Lake and that gorgeous lake is called Gangabal Lake of Kashmir. Both of these lakes are situated towards the Pahalgam side of Kashmir. 

 

The gorgeous Tulian Lake Trek gets challenging from Baisaran (Mini Switzerland of Kashmir) which is 7 km from the Lake. Most of the young trekkers take the Baisaran trail to complete the trek. Walking towards the River Lidder. you will be surrounded by green mountains, streams, and beautiful scenery. After moving forward, you enter the denser forests of deodar. 

 

The population of tourists there is very low and thus makes it the cleanest trek in the valley. It is also known as the iconic alpine lake in Kashmir valley. This alpine Lake is covered by mountains from all three sides and assumes the number 8. Enjoy the beautiful views along the Lakeside. The trek to this lake gives you the best and scenic highlights of the trekking in Kashmir. 

 

It is an attractive trek. Framed by nature, lush green meadow water streams, and beautiful mountain peaks. The trek is a little bit difficult for beginners. If you want to do this trek, firstly, you will have to reach Srinagar. Book a cab, after reaching Pahalgam early in the morning and start your trek from the Baisaran. After your arrival to Baisaran spend overnight camping.

Do not confuse Tulian Valley with Tulail Valley. The Tulail Valley is located in the offbeat location Gurez Valley of Kashmir. 

 

Start trek again from Baisaran to tulian. It is a 5-hour walk. after reaching the Lake you will vanish all your tiredness and enjoy the beautiful views of the Lake. Had a delicious breakfast.  

 

After having a delicious breakfast. time to return to Pahalgam reach Pahalgam and a cab will pick up you and drive you to Srinagar.

How to reach Tulian Lake.

It is approximately 16 km from Pahalgam. One can be reached through trekking, It is composed of three sessions. In the first session, you can start the trek from the base camp. In the second you enter the beautiful valley along with mountains and river. and in the third, you finally reached this mesmerizing Lake.

The trek takes 3 days to complete. You can complete the trek within 1 day by taking pony rides.

The best to visit this magnificent Lake is between March to October. From November to February the lake remains frozen. Therefore it should not be visited during winters.
