Tours of Cornwall - Discovering the South West of England

by Ed T. Nu Resistance Protest Clothing
Tucked away on the most southwestern peninsula of the United Kingdom, Cornwall lures travellers like the smugglers of days gone by. With its rugged coastline, picturesque villages, it truly is one of the most unique parts of the United Kingdom.

Best Beaches
Cornwall, arguably, has some of the finest beaches in the British Isles, over 400 actually, but some of those are not accessible by foot. You'd need an adventurous spirit, a kayak or some rock climbing gear to get to the tricky ones.

Lands End, which is the most westerly point of mainland Britain, has an epic beach nearby called Nanjizal which is only accessible via the coast path. A reward for anyone who's prepared to brave a summer sun hike.

History and Culture
Anyone who has visited Cornwall or seen photographs will be familiar with the engine houses dotted around the coastline. In fact, many of these mines have been designated as UNESCO world heritage sites due to their cultural and historic importance to Cornwall. Tin mining formed a massive part of the history of Cornwall and has created many lore's and legends such as piskies, who allegedly live in the abandoned mines.

The ruins of Tintagel castle, rumoured to be the location of King Arthurs famous round table and the court of Camelot, is nestled on its very own rocky outcrop island in the village of Tintagel on the North Coast of Cornwall. The true history of the castle seems to be a little more mundane, most likely built by the Earl of Cornwall circa 1233. I prefer the Arthur legend personally.

Food and Drink
Renowned for pasties, ice creams and the Seagulls who invariably attempt to liberate the aforementioned from our hands, Cornwall has evolved dramatically over the last 30 years into a foodies heaven. Pasties and Ice Cream are by far the most culturally important aspect, and a massively tasty one too. However, Cornwall now boasts a plethora of fine restaurants and bars, residents and visitors are truly spoiled for choice.

Planning your tour
Planning your trip to Cornwall can be daunting, knowing where to go and where to avoid during the peak summer season is an important factor. Also, it's easy to drive past a hidden gem and miss out on an unforgettable experience.

So why not take the hassle our of your tour of Cornwall with a tour organised and Chauffeured by Renowned Tours.
