If you and your fiance plan on getting married in 2021, you have undoubtedly noticed by now that planning your big day will be a bit of a challenge. We won’t know how soon things will start getting back to normal so it can be risky to make expensive commitments for your big day. Organizing a wedding comes with its own obstacles and difficult moments, but you may have had to change your venue, menu, wardrobe, or guest list due to the pandemic. However, there are still some useful tips you can keep in mind to have a beautiful and memorable ceremony. Here are some tricks for achieving a stunning 2021 wedding.

Discover What You Love

If you are a little lost on how to get started, first try researching different styles and themes of weddings. You can create a Pinterest account or wedding websites that will show a variety of choices. Save or screenshot different aspects that you like. Over time, you will start to find a pattern to what you are gravitating towards. This will greatly help you determine what type of wedding best fits your perfect wedding. Make sure you and your partner are on the same page so that you are both happy with the end result. If you have any disagreements, be sure to listen to your partner and do your best to come to a compromise that you are both happy about.

Choose a Free (Or Nearly Free) Venue

One of the best ways to stay within your wedding budget and still have a ceremony with a small group of your loved ones is to select a free or low-cost venue. Some public gardens and parks will allow you to exchange vows there in exchange for a small donation. You may also want to get married in the backyard of a friend or relative's home, and they may offer their property for your ceremony as your wedding gift.

If you have selected a venue for your wedding, it may be best to wait a few months before your big day to book the space. Usually, couples reserve their venue at least a year ahead of time. However, event planners are more eager than normal to accept reservations these days. This means you may be able to negotiate the price of the venue and perks provided by the establishment, such as table settings, catering, and sound system rental.

If you have loved ones traveling from out of town, try to select a venue that offers hotel accommodations and a space for a reception. This will make it easier to practice social distancing and will save you money, since you can experience all the aspects of your wedding in one place.

Revamp Your Wedding Menu

One of the aspects of your wedding that can be very expensive is catering. You will likely want a wedding cake or desserts for your guests to enjoy, along with a meal and drinks. In some cases, this cost can be reduced if you are relying on one company for your meal, desserts, beverages, and wait staff.

However, if you're trying to adhere to social distancing regulations by reducing your guest list and wedding staff, you may want to change the theme of your menu. For instance, if you are having an outdoor wedding, you can have a picnic-style or outdoor tea party as a reception. You can find several styles of plastic wine glasses, plates, or cutlery to use during the reception. This way you can still enjoy your wedding toast in style without spending too much money as well.

You may also want to consider having buffet-style dinner. A burger or slider bar or taco bar is great for a small wedding. And if you and your guests often enjoy these foods together, they are likely to appreciate a celebratory meal that is reminiscent of your friendship or family bond. You can also have a dessert-only reception and give your guests several sweet choices like cookies, mini cupcakes and donuts. Choose a dessert to place in individual boxes and give these to your loved ones as wedding favors.

Go to Bridal Shows and Expos

Shortly after you get engaged, you may want to attend expos and shows that display many of the clothing, food, and decorations you want at your wedding. These events allow you to see the latest wedding fashions up close, so you can choose which items fit your personal style. You'll also be entered into raffles and contests to make you eligible for discounted wedding dresses and catering services. Some raffles even put you in the running to receive a free honeymoon! Going to a bridal show may also give you access to discounts that you wouldn't receive at retail locations. Attend as many bridal expos as you can before the big day to help you save money while still having the wedding of your dreams.

Follow CDC Guidelines

We don’t know if the CDC will still be recommending social distancing or masks next year, but it is best to plan for the worst case scenario just in case. This means ordering masks for all of your guests and to make sure that your venue will have a large enough space that allows for social distancing. This will decrease the chances of having to cancel your venue if you are taking the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety. You can still make it fun and align with your style of wedding by ordering masks that are the same color of your wedding theme or decorating hand sanitizers placed around your venue.

Final Thoughts

As you are planning your wedding, it's also important to check out some reviews of bridal shops, wedding venues, hotels, and caterers. Find out what other customers are saying about these businesses so you'll know what to expect when it comes to price and customer service. This can make organizing your big day a little easier, even if you will have to make some major adjustments to have the ceremony you want. Either way, don’t forget what your big day is truly about: celebrating the love between you and your partner!
