Tips To Treat Head Lice At Home... Before You Head To A Lice Clinic

by Robert F. Read My Articles, Learn More...
If you or a loved one has a head lice infestation, you're probably thinking that lice combs and medicated lice shampoo will take care of the job of killing those pesky lice and nits. Nowadays, that's not the case.

Although these medication lice treatments say that they will kill off all lice and nits, they don't. They're not as effective as they claim they are—and Lice Troopers knows that, especially when much of our clientele tells us that traditional treatments just don't work for them anymore.

You need treatment from an all natural lice clinic to get the best results. Trust us—as an all natural lice clinic, we offer 100 percent all natural, one time treatments for people with head lice infestations. Our treatments are usually one time because many of our clients see great results after their initial session. Of course, we provide additional treatments for exceptionally tricky cases of head lice infestation.

But, before you head to our lice clinic, there are a few things you can to manage yours or a loved one's lice infestation at home. Let's look at some of our best tips.

Tips to Treat Head Lice At Home

Try wet combing—wet your hair with water and a lubricant, such as hair oil or safe-to-use conditioner. Once you've wet and lubricated your hair, comb your entire head from scalp to the ends of your hair.

Do this multiple times; this helps gather all of the visible lice and nits from your scalp to be discarded. If you're not confident about repeating this for several weeks, you're welcome to have Lice Troopers handle the treatment for you.

Some essential 'smothering agents' may help stave off symptoms from a head lice infestation. Petroleum jelly, butter, olive oil and mayonnaise are common agents used to help smother lice and their incubating eggs, depriving them of air. While we these don’t get rid of them completely, people have used these agents to help, at least, stop some of the lice activity before seeking a professional treatment from a lice clinic much like ours.

Let's not forget: even if you get the lice removed, there's still the issue with your household retaining that infestation even just a few hours after you return. Fortunately, lice and nits rarely live past one day without feeding or incubation. But, there are things you can do to stop lice from infesting anyone else in your home.

Wash all affected items, such as bedding, stuffed animals and clothing in hot water—at temperatures of at least 130 degrees F. Dry those items on high heat.

Throw all hair care items – brushes, combs and accessories.

Seal any affected items in plastic bags for two weeks – this will smother any remaining lice/nits.

Don't forget to vacuum everywhere—including your upholstered furniture!
