Beef tenderloin, a popular non-vegetarian dish is known for its rich taste and flavour. It can be prepared in a variety of methods, using plethora of ingredients and seasonings. People can prepare grilled, roasted, sautéed, smoked tenderloin, depending on their taste and preferences. Beef tenderloin is the best dish to be enjoyed on a holiday dinner or on a romantic dinner with your partner. Preparing this classic dish is not that difficult if you know the right trick of cooking it. There are some common mistakes that people do while preparing it. Listed below are the mistakes that one should avoid in order to make a perfect tenderloin steak:

Trim it properly: trimming the piece properly is the first and the most important thing to keep in mind. There is a thick layer of white tissue on the surface which is hard to cut through, difficult to tenderize and does not taste good when left on the beef piece. It is therefore important to trim the silver skin from the meat piece properly using a flexible knife. If you cannot do it yourself, tell the butcher to do that for you.

Tie the tenderloin properly: whether you are cooking steaks or the whole beef tenderloin, it is important that you tie the entire piece properly. If you cook it as it is, chances of it being unevenly cooked are more. The thicker pieces will remain uncooked while the thinner pieces will get over-cooked. The best way to avoid this problem is to tie it properly. If you are cooking the whole beef tenderloin, tuck its tapered end under itself so that the whole piece is of same thickness. On the other hand, if you are cooking steaks, tie them with kitchen strings so that they all appear round in shape.

Use enough seasonings: though beef tenderloin is extremely soft and tender, it does not have any taste of its own. If you use no or light seasoning, it may look uninteresting and taste bland. Apart from salt, use good amount of dried herbs, ginger, garlic, to add that extra flavour to the dish. Whether you are roasting or grilling it, make sure you use herbs generously if you want to enjoy this delicious dish to the fullest.

Do not over-cook it: overcooking this dish will make it dry and tough. It is best served rare and is advised to use a thermometer to check that it is not over cooked at temperatures above 130 degree Fahrenheit. If you are serving it to guests who like their meat extra soft, you can cut the tenderloin into smaller pieces and then cook them at different temperatures.

Follow the above instructions and it will help you relish yummy tenderloin steak at home. However, if you do not have the time to cook it at home you can also get it ordered from one of the many restaurants that have this dish on their menu. There are restaurants in Vasant Kunj like Smoke House Deli, that serve delicious tenderloin steak. You can head to this restaurant if you want to relish this yummy delicacy.
