You must avoid washing your silk fabric at home because even a little mistake from your side can ruin your beautiful attire. However, if you choose to wash it at home due to certain reasons, then here are some tips that you can follow:

  • Use cold water and mild shampoo or detergent rather than soap at least for the first three washes.
  • To preserve the natural look of your silk yard, protein shampoo is the ideal choice to wash it.
  • While washing or rinsing it, never wring or twist it to soak water as it can lead to permanent wrinkled look and  may lose its sheen. Trust us, this is the worst thing that you can do to your most valuable asset which is popular for amazing nine yards of mulberry silk.
  • Instead, use a cotton cloth or a big clean towel to absorb the water.
  • Do not hang it in a direct sunlight. Opt for a shaded area to avoid the chances of fading.
